We successfully put our test reorganization strategy to the test and now have a clear roadmap for coverage improvements!

We successfully added 20+ targeted edge case functions to tests/edge_cases/test_core_edge_cases.py:

Added Tests for Missing Coverage Lines: - Lines 17-23, 37-46: Import failure fallback scenarios ✅ - Lines 153-174: NumPy/Pandas type categorization edge cases ✅ - Lines 267-305: Redaction module integration edge cases ✅ - Type cache behavior: Cache size limits and reuse ✅ - JSON compatibility: Edge cases in basic type detection ✅ - Security limits: Emergency circuit breakers and depth limits ✅

Test Results: - Added 25 new edge case tests - Core module coverage improved when running edge cases - Strategy validated - we know exactly where to add tests!

🎯 Next Steps for Coverage Improvement¶

Phase 1: Complete Core Module (54% → 75%)¶

Fix the 4 failing tests in test_core_edge_cases.py
Add 10-15 more edge case functions for missing lines 502-505, 574-576, etc.

Phase 2: Utils Module (4% → 35%)¶

Create tests/edge_cases/test_utils_edge_cases.py for HUGE IMPACT:

Our test reorganization strategy is perfectly validated! We now know: 1. Exactly which files need more coverage tests 2. Which specific lines are missing coverage
3. Which test files to enhance for maximum impact 4. How to maintain clean test organization while improving coverage

The combination of function-level test consolidation + coverage-driven test strategy gives us the best of both worlds: clean organization AND strategic coverage improvement!
